Synopsis
As Mato Wayuhi continues to rise as a musical composer and rapper, he continues to hear his father’s and ancestors’ voices in his art. Mato is known for composing the score for the Emmy-nominated series Reservation Dogs. Outside of the realm of composing, Mato engages with his community and the world through his talents as a rapper. Stankface Standing Soldier: The Rise of Mato Wayuhi provides a glimpse into the up-and-coming Oglala Lakota artist’s life as a rising rapper and composer. With the release of his recent album, Stankface Standing Soldier, the audience receives a deeper look into Mato’s personal inspiration and upbringing. This documentary showcases Mato’s versatility as a performer, showcasing his creative path led by his ancestors and his father’s voice.
