Nasir Jani Melawan Lembaga Puaka
Synopsis
1992. Rockers cry, their hair is cut. Directly from the television screen. What happened behind the events of the early 90s that were quite surprising in Malaysia and at the same time had an impact on Nasir Jani's work in the following years? The documentary 'Nasir Jani Melawan Lembaga Puaka' follows the journey of this cult film-maker 'Kembara Seniman Jalanan' in reflecting on the complex culture of censorship in Malaysia. The clash of Mahathirism at the beginning of his reign to the ironic authoritarian culture, this documentary also responds to the supportive perspective of young filmmakers, Amanda Nell Eu and Steven Sarathbabu who struggle and dribble with the logic of censorship and what happens behind it.
