Major Dad is an American sitcom created by Richard C. Okie and John G. Stephens, developed by Earl Pomerantz, that originally ran from 1989 to 1993 on CBS, starring Gerald McRaney as Major John D. MacGillis and Shanna Reed as his wife Polly. The cast also includes Beverly Archer, Matt Mulhern, Jon Cypher, Marisa Ryan, Nicole Dubuc and Chelsea Hertford.

Sean et Beverly Lincoln, un couple de scénaristes britanniques, sont invités à Hollywood par un producteur américain de télévision, Marc Lapidus, pour adapter leur série à succès sur une chaîne de télévision américaine. Les crises d’adolescents succèdent aux problèmes scolaires, les petits tracas du quotidien aux maux de cœur...

Frank Lambert, entrepreneur divorcé (son ex-femme est partie pour Las Vegas) et père de trois enfants, se marie à la Jamaïque, sur un coup de tête, avec Carol Foster, une divorcée, elle aussi mère de trois enfants… sans que leurs enfants respectifs le sachent, mais ceux-ci ne tardent pas à apprendre la vérité. Les enfants de Frank s'entendant mal avec ceux de Carol, la famille recomposée va rencontrer bien des difficultés. L'action se déroule dans la petite ville, réelle, de Port Washington dans le Wisconsin.

A comedy about two young couples and their outrageously contrasting views on parenting. Greg and Kim Warner struggle on a daily basis to become perfect at the job. Christine's husband, Jimmy, often feels compelled to share with his brother-in-law his philosophy about being a husband and a parent while still remaining a man.
