
Synopsis
José Ramón Garrido is a former Olympic badminton player who makes a living teaching physical education at a public high school in Vallecas. Divorced and without prospects, Joserra has been drifting for years, but he keeps himself afloat with a daily purpose. Joserra believes he has discovered the diamond that will turn his life around at a school tournament: Mar, a teenage player who could be his ticket to fulfilling his dream of competing in Jakarta, the city where former players like him are respected as stars. Joserra and Mar will have to learn to put up with each other on a journey full of dingy guesthouses, run-down sports centers, and gas stations that takes them through Totana, Ponferrada, Torrelavega, and Tardajos before they reach the Indonesian capital. That is, if they ever get there.

The name of the show involves wordplay, as "vecina" is the Spanish word for neighbour.
