Un ex-champion de base-ball veuf, l'italo-américain Tony Micelli, souhaite quitter Brooklyn pour offrir à sa fille Samantha un cadre de vie plus agréable. Too Close for Comfort est une sitcom télévisée américaine qui a été diffusée sur le réseau ABC du 11 novembre 1980 au 5 mai 1983 et en syndication de première diffusion du 7 avril 1984 au 27 septembre 1986. Elle a été calquée sur la série britannique Keep It in the Family, qui a été créé neuf mois avant que Too Close for Comfort ne fasse ses débuts aux États-Unis. Son nom a été changé pour The Ted Knight Show lorsque le spectacle a été réorganisé pour sa dernière saison.
