Gimme a Break! is an American sitcom which aired on NBC for six seasons, October 29, 1981, until May 12, 1987. The series stars Nell Carter as the housekeeper for a widowed police chief and his three daughters.

Un ex-champion de base-ball veuf, l'italo-américain Tony Micelli, souhaite quitter Brooklyn pour offrir à sa fille Samantha un cadre de vie plus agréable. Il devient alors homme à tout faire dans une famille aisée du Connecticut, constituée d'Angela Bower, une riche femme d'affaires séparée de son mari, son fils Jonathan et sa mère Mona Robinson, un peu nymphomane.

Fraîchement divorcée, Ann Romano déménage à Indianapolis avec ses deux filles, Barbara et Julie. Tous trois se lient d'amitié avec le gardien de leur immeuble, Dwayne Schneider.

Présentateur d'une émission de téléachat sur le bricolage, Tim Taylor est en fait un piètre bricoleur. Pourtant, l'« homme outil », comme il se surnomme, adore modifier et améliorer les choses qui l'entourent, ce qui l'entraîne souvent à l'hôpital…

La trentaine entamée, Martin Tupper travaille dans une maison d'édition spécialisée dans les romans à l'eau de rose. Séparé de son épouse Judith avec laquelle il partage la garde de leur fils, Jeremy, il redécouvre la vie de célibataire. Accumulant les conquêtes. il ne perd cependant pas l'espoir de reconquérir Judith un jour. Issu de la génération de l'après-guerre, Martin a grandi devant le petit écran, abreuvé par des centaines d'heures de productions diffusées en noir et blanc. Marqué par la télévision, le jeune homme voit régulièrement des images de films ou séries des années 50 et 60 lui revenir par flashes, illustrant ainsi ses pensées et sentiments du moment.

Une femme essaie, tant bien que mal, d'élever une famille dysfonctionnelle dans un quartier où résident des épouses aussi parfaites que leurs progénitures respectives.

The Hogan Family is an American television situation comedy that aired on NBC from March 1, 1986 to May 7, 1990, and on CBS from September 15, 1990 until July 20, 1991. It was produced by Miller-Boyett Productions, along with Tal Productions, Inc., and in association with Lorimar Productions, Lorimar-Telepictures and Lorimar Television. The show was originally titled Valerie and starred Valerie Harper as a mother trying to juggle her career with raising her three sons by her often-absent airline-pilot husband. Harper was written out of the series after the second season because of a dispute with the show's producers. Sandy Duncan joined the cast as the boys' aunt, who moved in and became their surrogate mom. During the show's third season, the series was known as Valerie's Family: The Hogans, then simply as The Hogan Family.
