In September 1780, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote the poem “Over all the hilltops is quiet now” on the timber wall of a hunting lodge on Kickelhahn mountain in the Thuringian Forest. Already in Goethe’s lifetime, these verses had been set to music by all kinds of composers. The newest musical interpretation is composed by Blixa Bargeld for the short film EIN GLEICHES. The film was shot in September 1997 in the area of the same hunting lodge on Kickelhahn mountain in the Thuringian Forest.

SOUNDHUNTERS - a musical expedition - traces the adventure of KIZ, two new coming musicians, into the world of Soundhunters. From Paris to Malmo, from London to Baltimore, the film follows their encounters with exceptional musicians (Matthew Herbert, Chassol, Matmos, Jean Michel Jarre, Blixa Bargeld or Cosmo Sheldrake) from very different backgrounds and genres. Integrating the sounds from their journey into exciting musical scenes, KIZ playfully show us how the world can be turned into a limitless music instrument.

Beautifully shot, intelligently edited, and boasting crisp and full-bodied audio, God Is in the House is a fine document of Cave and his collaborators on a good night.
