The story begins in the summer of 1997, just before the arrival of the famous 12-meter flood wave flooding Wroclaw. - The residents of the "Home under Two Eagles" are grandma Zofia Szablewska, a woman full of energy, warmth and humor, her daughter Helena, a cool perfectionist, and Marianna, Zofia's beloved granddaughter, returning with her fiancé from a scholarship in the USA. The family drama begins when a flood wave floods the house, and at the same time grandma Zofia ends up in the hospital due to a stroke. An unfortunate coincidence leads Marianna to discover post-German traces in a house destroyed by the element, thanks to which she finds the diary of the first owner of "Home under Two Eagles", Lisa Weber. Marianna's learning of the history written on the cards takes the action of the series to 1918. In subsequent episodes, viewers will learn about the life of the then inhabitants of the tenement house and their neighbors.

Basia and Stefan are a young married couple during World War II who risk their lives to bring aid to Jews. He is an architect, she a nurse--a member of "Zegota" (the Polish underground organization to aid Jews in occupied Poland which operated under the auspices of the Polish government in exile). The series takes place both during the war and in the present day. Basia and Stefan meet accidentally, fall in love, and marry. Basia is active with the underground from the beginning of the war; Stefan is not, but a family tragedy changes his attitude.

The Photographer is an elusive serial killer operating in modern-day Moscow. He leaves numbered tiles at the scenes of his crimes, similar to those placed at crime scenes by forensic teams. Set in 1989, story of a man beat up by two ex-policemen and left to die in a dump. Marek survives after the brain surgery that leaves him amnesiac. He wanders through the city, sought by his assilant, who fear he will testify against them. Marek finds shelter with a girlfriend/bagwoman who supposedly was once queen of Paris boulevards. Marek regains his memory just as the villains are to get him. He eventually returns to his house only to find out that his mother died and his brother left for Australia.

The topic taken up by Wojciech Tomczyk is a very hot one, dealing with the still painful settlements with the People's Republic of Poland, the problem of victims and executioners, entangled in the communist and post-communist system. A retired military counterintelligence officer is approached by a journalist. Hanka wants to get information about the colonel with whom our retiree met at the infantry school, where they studied since the fall of 1953. Stefan Kolodziej, however, has other plans. He wants to tell Hanka his biography, which is suspiciously intertwined with the journalist's life. The Colonel's confession reveals the horrifying cesspool of communism: finished people, destroyed families and careers.

1982, martial law is in force. Krzysztof works as a teacher. Since his wife Gosia left for a scholarship in Baltimore, he has been living alone. He misses her and often writes letters to her. He hopes that she will leave Poland and join him, but at the moment this is impossible. One night, he has a strange dream. In it, he is running through a mist-covered meadow full of purple flowers. Nearby, on a railway embankment, he hears a woman's delirious cries. In the darkness, the lights of a passing train slowly begin to grow brighter. Before he can save her, the dream ends. When Krzysztof has the same dream a month later, he wonders about its meaning. After receiving a letter from his wife saying that she intends to remarry, Krzysztof feels lost. While browsing through an atlas of reproductions of paintings, he comes across the works of a young painter. As he looks through them, he discovers that the paintings correspond to his visions. Krzysztof decides to find the artist.
