Tien-Fu Liu, a tycoon who is well connected in politics and business, and his son, Won-Tsung Liu, have been buying and selling large amounts of illicit drugs. Cheng-Hsien Lee (a police officer of Criminal Investigation Division) is instructed by his superior officer, Yao-Wei Lee (Chief of No. 1 Team of Criminal Investigation Division), to be an undercover to investigate the illegal activities of Tien-Fu Liu and Cheng Long Group. In the police's effort to crack down on Cheng Long Group, several policemen and policewomen shed their blood; however, Cheng Long Group, with great ties in politics and business through money, is not so easy to be destroyed. In the process, Cheng-Hsien found out that Tien-Fu Liu was the person who killed his father. In the meantime, another serious crime takes place and Cheng-Hsien, who has been utterly devoted to his job, immediately engages in a battle with the criminals so as to defend justice against evil and injustice. Chi-Chung Huang is the second son of the Huang family, which owns Taiwan Chao-Lian Group. Chi-Chung and his older brother, Chi-Long Huang, bribe the prosecutor for a death penalty case that his family is involved in. However, the prosecutor changes his mind about the matter. Chi-Chung leads his men to confront the prosecutor, who later falls off an elevated expressway and dies. To lay low for a while, Chi-Chung accepts his brother's arrangement and goes into hiding in the southern region of Taiwan. However, after he arrives there, he is controlled by a crime syndicate. After he is drugged and becomes hardly conscious, he inadvertently rapes Chia-Yi, who is a nice good girl. After the rape, Chia-Yi swears to get Chi-Chung to face up the legal consequences; later, she finds she is impregnated by Chi-Chung, and this strengthens her will to fight a battle between the rich (Chi-Chung) and the poor (herself). As a storm is quietly approaching, who will turn out to be the winner?
Adapted from the novel by author Wu Hsiao-Le, the series consists of five independent stories about parenting, as well as children's pressures of growing up, when faced with the tragic consequences of social pressure, parental oppression and family dysfunction.
