War, 1944. Soldier Zhenya Kolyshkin, a fragile intellectual from Arbat, sets out on New Year's Eve to collect a parcel, but stumbles upon a German dugout. He manages to escape, but guard duty is inevitable. Zhenya's predicament is brightened by Zhenechka, a communications officer in the Katyusha regiment.

A man tries to follow his interpretations and behave accordingly, sacrificing his entire private property and living for the poor.

In the Antarctic village of Mirny, polar explorers Vladimir Sazonov and Fyodor Boyko meet—old friends who haven't seen each other in many years, who reminisce about their childhood in a southern coastal town and the romance of long-distance radio communications on short radio waves.

The characters of the play do not know that tomorrow there will be a war, that many people have only a few days left to live. They enthusiastically fight with the teacher, fall in love, cry and laugh, have fun, fight, mischief and impudence, but they seem to be just children, although - the paradox of that time! - their souls mature and develop much faster than their bodies. And when their friend's father is arrested by slander or mistake, they are ready for the first trials, for the initial lessons of injustice and grief, mutual assistance and mutual understanding. The tragedy that happened in the classroom was a kind of test of readiness for tomorrow's sacrifices and tomorrow's exploits.

A Soviet trading ship sank into the Italian port. Sailor Roman went ashore. In one of the squares he heard singing. It was sung by Francesca. The sailor was delighted with her voice and beauty. They wandered for a long time that day on ancient streets and squares. And the next morning the war began. The Soviet ship had to urgently return to their homeland. It was difficult to part in love, but they believe that they will definitely meet.

During the final months of the World War II, a group of special forces sailors, under the command of Lieutenant Balandin, receives a secret order of special importance to destroy enemy tankers, seaplanes and gun installations to ensure the free landing of their troops.

After the end of the Civil War, nurse and intelligence officer Anna Dzyuba returns to her hometown with her commissar husband. Here she has to make a difficult choice between ideological associates who establish Soviet power and childhood friends associated with the anti-Soviet underground.

After the birth of their son, the young family begins to experience the first difficulties: Nastya finds it difficult to cope with school, work and household, and Gnat finds solace with Hannah. But the brigade is on Nastya's side. And so, when Gnat leaves the family to sort out his own feelings, the funny Antoska settles into their apartment...
