The Ed Sullivan Show is an American TV variety show that originally ran on CBS from Sunday June 20, 1948 to Sunday June 6, 1971, and was hosted by New York entertainment columnist Ed Sullivan. It was replaced in September 1971 by the CBS Sunday Night Movie, which ran only one season and was eventually replaced by other shows. In 2002, The Ed Sullivan Show was ranked #15 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time.
The merchant Blomberg is out in the countryside with his daughters and housekeeper when the idyll is suddenly shattered. The daughters head off to have fun with two young guys from Copenhagen who are on a road trip, and the vagabonds Pat and Patachon seize the chance to interfere for their own gain. The preserved material is the original Swedish version titled 'Landsvägsriddare', translated to 'Tyvepak' in Danish. The film was a huge economic success to the then Swedish owned production company Palladium. It is the first film, in which Pat and Patachon appear as a team, although not in their final constellation: As always, Pat is played by Carl Schenstrøm, whereas Patachon is embodied by Aage Bendixen instead of Harald Madsen. There is another 'Tyvepak' from 1915, which is directed by Lau Lauritzen Sr. as well. This film is a heavily revised version of the 1915-film. (stumfilm.dk)
In 1890, Pontus, the starving writer, wanders the streets of Christiania, in search of love and a chance to get his work published. All he meets is defeat and suffering while his sense of reality is withering. One moment he is delighted and the next he curses everybody. All the time he manages to maintain human dignity and pride.
While Bertil Lindström works at the Swedish embassy in Paris, his wife Gabrielle spends the summer alone in Sweden. After a phone call to her, he starts to think of all the things she can possibly be doing separated from him.
A gentle comedy offering the promise of easy social consensus. Harry (Helmuth) is a simple old-time shop porter offered a chance at self-realisation when he's bequeathed a sum by an unknown relative (via several levels of fiscal blood suckers). He decides to engage a butler to take good care of him for a time. This is a man of distinguished upper class service, but a generous nature which happily integrates with Harry's small but colourful world of drinking buddies and crackpot neighbourhood kids.
The young and beautiful Laura Heiberg is to marry Torsten Vinge. When the priest asks if she will marry him, she says no. She flees from the church and gets a lift from Jonas Møller. He is heading north along the coast. At the 42 km marker in the forest, she asks to be dropped off. She follows a telephone wire to see where it ends. She finds a beautiful house in the forest. It looks uninhabited, but the door is open, so she goes inside. No one responds to her calls. She sends a telegram to an old flame, Herbert Thorsen, asking him to fetch some clothes from home and bring them to her. At the same time, she tells him that she did not get married after all. She finds a book called "What Do You Know About Yourself" written by Allan Krogh. She takes it out onto the terrace to read.
On New Year's Eve, the convicted murderer, Strong Henry, escapes from prison and collects his son from the orphanage. When he breaks into a local manor to get some milk for his child, he is surprised by a young woman, Eva. Out of pity, she decides to help the stranger, but unfortunately some of the manor's other occupants wake up and call the police. Fourteen years later, Henry is released from prison. Convinced that Eva betrayed him, he sets out to take revenge and find his son.
When waiter Thomas Hansen has put aside 10-øre on 10-øre to become a hotel owner, you can clearly see that the spirit has changed. It is not enough, by the way. Therefore, Thomas borrows the missing 10,000 kr. from a guest, rentier Birkehøj, who remarks that he can always get those shillings back when Thomas has become a millionaire. In the small idyllic town Randrup, lives on nature-loving and friendly thatcher Rasmus Thomsen (Oswald Helmuth). A prisoner who has just escaped from prison finds the body of Jensens, a marshal, in Jensens' shop. Christensen is the caretaker of a property in the inner city. He is a bachelor and has taken in a poor little girl. The house is inhabited by ordinary people, and the friendly caretaker is like a father to them. Up in the attic lives a whole colony of young artists: actors, dancers, writers and composers. They are poor, but they hold the flag high. They are confident that one day they will have their big breakthrough, and they are working diligently on a revue that their leader, a young musician and composer, has written.
Peter Vipperup is a tailor in a small provincial town. He has to work hard to make ends meet for himself and his family. One fine day, Vipperup's brother, Andres, returns home from America. He is a completely different type than the little Lapp tailor, and he has had good luck on the other side of the Atlantic. A few cunning minds in town have seen through Andres' wealth and devise a plan to secure a share of the wealth by appointing the tailor as director of a newly started bank - and then exploiting his naivety.
According to several old writings, Cocktail means something like mixed - and mixed is probably what you could call "Dana's" first revue production. It is a mix of everything that was good and better in the summer's two big revue successes, and as an extra little splash of fruit juice at the bottom of the shaker, a single thing has been taken from "Circus Revue".
Svend come back after a year of travel as a mate. Inger and Svend's father has been waiting him with longing. Conversely, Svends brother Thorsten, jealousy at Svend. Both of Inger's love for Sven and because Svend take over the family fishing boat. After a new argument in the family takes Svend space with another skipper, so that Thorsten can get the boat. Folk comedy with Osvald Helmuth in a brilliant role as the butcher Mortensen, who wins a fortune at the roulette table and engages a baron to train him in the role of a consummate gentleman. It gives him, he thinks, a chance to conquer the seamstress in his life. As top-trimmed as you can make butcher Helmuth, the trio, together with the baron's sister, go to the castle meeting with the aristocracy. It will be a tough test, and it is a shame to say that the butcher passes the exam - on the other hand, he gains the experience that lies in recognizing: Money is not everything - it is the innermost that counts.
