Storm over the Yangtze River tells the true story of undercover intelligence agent "Yangtze Number One" and his colleagues in Jianli County of Hubei Province, who risk their lives to carry out the "Dead Bridge Plan" to secure the "Yangtze 180 Blockade". Li Lihua gives an iconic performance as a strong and charming agent of an intelligence unit, engaging in a risky mission to save her unit chief-cum-lover, who is regarded as a traitor but actually is a double-dealing agent against the Japanese occupation. The film garnered four awards at the 1969 Golden Horse Awards, including Best Leading Actor and Best Leading Actress.
Storm Over the Yangtse River

A King Boxer named Chow (Meng Fei) visits a friend in Thailand. She introduces him to her boyfriend, who's a Thai boxer. Chow saves the Thai boxer from some thugs and the two become friends. Chow teaches him the knife style. Meanwhile back in China, Chow's brother and sister look after his kung fu school. A Japanese martial artist (Kurata) visits the school looking for Chow. Kurata fights and beats his brother instead and develops strong liking for Chow's sister. Chow returns to China and has to defend his school's honor against Kurata.

The Switch
Li Tsui-Ying (Pai Hung), the Best Secret Agent, disguises herself as a train conductor to assist Changjiang guerrilla leader Chiang Hsiao-Tien (Wu Chia-Chi) to evade the patrol of Japanese troops. Li adopts the pseudonym of White Peony in her Peking opera performance for the puppet government president, Han Zhaogui. Chiang discovers that his former lover Liu Feng has become Han's wife, but he finds that Liu still loves him and keeps their love token golden pheasant heart. White Peony would like to destroy the Japanese army’s project of building a secret airport. However, when she rescues Chiang from Han’s secretary, Ma Zuo-wen during an attack of Han in the cinema, White Peony falls in love with Chiang, without knowing that Chiang’s lover is Liu. In a final duel between White Peony vs Ma and Han, she realises how much Chiang loves Liu. She returns the golden pheasant heart that Ma took away from Liu to the lovers. The next day when Liu wakes up, White Peony has gone.
