Brazil, 1961. In the underground of the Piratini Palace, the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Leonel Brizola, awaits a bombing by the Brazilian armed forces. The country is on the verge of a civil war, following the resignation of president Jânio Quadros and the movement to keep vice-president João Goulart from taking office. Using the radio transmitter from his improvised bunker, Brizola sets up the Legality movement, to ensure Goulart's right to the presidential chair. Caught in the crossfire, two brothers who are in love with the same woman unite to fight alongside Brizola.

Stênio, the nightshifter of a morgue, has the ability to communicate with the cadavers that are brought to him every night.

The film tells the story of a man who was born in 1959 and died in 2070, told by people who knew him and somehow contributed to his trajectory.

Dario is a psychologist who has recently began taking child patients again, after going through a traumatic experience. His first patient is Sofia, a girl who makes others around her feel disturbing sensations.

In Rio Grande do Sul, the newcomer intern Paula sees the schizophrenic Dante Becker and she decides to study his case for her graduation work in the university. Her supervisor retrieves the name of Dante's father Gregório and the women Renê Heller and Berenice that had visited him in the past and she interviews them to discover what happened with Dante.

Raúl is an unemployed cattleman that lives in an isolated house on the fields. The landscape of pastures is being superimposed by huge soy plantations. Devastated by poverty, he joins a gang of other peasants that steals cattle during the darkness of the nights on the pastures.

In Porto Alegre, the unemployed Ciro has a dull life in a simple apartment with a nameless stray dog that he had found on the streets. Ciro is supported by his parents and works every now and then in translation of Russian. When he meets the aspirant actress Marcela, who dreams on traveling to other places, they immediately fall in love for each other. However, Marcela has a lymphoma and travels for a treatment, and alone Marcelo becomes depressed and returns to his parents home.

The film tells the story of sixteen people in the hottest day of the year in the city of Porto Alegre.

Mônica is an actress in a crisis triggered by the overexposure of her life as a celebrity. Young Kelly is not aware of that when she unsuccessfully tries to speak to Mônica as she is leaving a film shooting, in Brazil's countryside. Kelly will not give up and decides to try to meet her muse again.

Ricardo is 10 years old, lives in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul and has nightmares about Velho do Saco, sort of a Brazilian bogeyman, “who takes out the eyes of misbehaving children”. It is not easy to distinguish truths and lies when the loss of innocence is confused with the loss of sight.

Late summer of 2007, South of Brazil. Joana, 13, wants to find out why her great-aunt Rosa died at 70 without ever having dated anyone. Encouraged by her friend Carolina, Joana starts an investigation about Rosa’s past. As she confronts the values of her community, Joana realizes that all the women in her family have a secret, while something hidden inside her also reveals. She plunges into her imagination to find answers while a large wind power plant is being built in their small town.
