Standa Pekárek has three wishes in life: to drive a volga, to drive for the Humour and Folk Entertainment editorial office and to drive Got'ák. The five-part miniseries Volha is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Karel Hynia, written in an extraordinary, bizarre and precisely echoed language. It can be perceived as a peculiar history of Czechoslovak television with a number of incredible, albeit real, "stories from the set". At the same time, however, it is a portrait of its main character - a limited egocentric who excels in inventing small tricks and deceptions - how to steal petrol, fake mileage, cheat his wife, get rid of the competition. Logically, he then also becomes a StB collaborator (with the code name Volha) who informs on all his co-workers and passengers without any remorse.

1914. Colonel von Haukwitz dies under mysterious circumstances during an occult séance. His fiancée, actress Klára Knabelová, discovers during the investigation that the head, hands, and heart were removed from the body after death. In her search for answers to this mystery, she encounters the colonel's closest associate, Lieutenant Heinrich Roth, and fate brings them together. Military investigator Karel Vrana tries to persuade Klára to cooperate against Roth and occult circles within the army. Klára refuses, but expresses her support for Vrana's goal of finding the stolen parts of the colonel's body. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Roth is called to the battlefield of World War I, and Vrana sets out across Europe to search for von Haukwitz's remains, which are being used by occult groups. Klára moves to her family farm in Moravia, where she receives another part of the body—the hand of the wounded Lieutenant Roth.

Even a small child knows that people go to hell for their bad deeds—especially if the devils are targeting evil, envious, exploitative, greedy, and lazy people... Of course, everyone thinks that this applies to everyone else, that they themselves are not really that bad, and, most importantly, that they have plenty of time to improve. Of course, the desire to improve is the first step in the right direction, but Vašek, the hero of our fairy tale, doesn't even have that desire. He quite likes his lazy nature. And why wouldn't he, when his parents, and even his sweetheart Andulka, can't do anything but complain and sigh and hope that maybe one day... The offer of help comes from a completely unexpected source—Beelzebub himself, the chief prince of all devils and she-devils, takes Vašek to hell for a year to re-educate him. Of course, this isn't for free, and there's a nasty trick hidden in it.
