Brava Gente was a television series aired by TV Globo in Brazil between 2000 and 2003, initially as a special year-end. The program was adapted from stories and national stories, and plays by famous playwrights, screenwriters and signed by a number represented by several actors and actresses. The genres of the stories varied each week with the style of each director or author. Brava Gente in the stories ranged from comedies and dramas. In all 53 episodes were shown, broadcast on Tuesday nights.

Set in Rio de Janeiro, the main plot follows the romantic adventures of four young people: Sônia, Joyce, Paulo, and Carlos. The youngest, Joyce, was raised by her aunt and uncle, Flávia and Dario Rodrigues, following her mother's death and her father's disappearance. Dario and Flávia are Sônia's parents, and they raised both girls as sisters. The story becomes even more complicated with the arrival of Carlos, a young man of humble origins who falls for Joyce the moment he meets her. Joyce, however, does not reciprocate his advances and spurns his interest. Increasingly in love with Paulo, she even pretends to be blind after an accident—solely to remain close to the doctor—and proves willing to do whatever it takes to keep Sônia out of her way.

The miniseries tells the story of Leninha, who marries Paulo due to a financial agreement made by her father, Dílson. Her life changes when she meets her brother-in-law, Mauricio, during a trip to her husband's farm in the interior of Rio de Janeiro. The two fall in love and become lovers. Leninha then begins to experience a great conflict: social and moral rules impose on her the behavior of a good wife, faithful and companion, but her desire for Maurício speaks louder. Consuelo, mother of Paulo and Maurício, realizes what is happening and begins to antagonize her daughter-in-law. Upon discovering the betrayal, Paulo starts to hate his brother. At the end of the plot, Leninha decides to stay with her husband, and the couple happily announces that they will have a child. Mauricio despairs, but later recovers in Regina's arms.

Two sisters live in the same house with their husbands in bedrooms separated by a single wall. One of the sisters, Lígia, is still a virgin. Dissatisfied, she wants to dissolve the marriage and thinks about suicide. To prevent her sister’s suicide, Guida offers her own husband, Paulo, for one night.

After the funeral of her father Arnaldo, who committed suicide, Engraçadinha confesses to the priest the motives. On the engagement party of her cousin Sílvio with Letícia, Engraçadinha seduces him in the library, and later she ends her engagement with Zózimo and lies to Letícia, telling that she is pregnant. Letícia decides to tell Arnaldo what happened, and he says that the child can not be born. He exposes dirty secrets to Engraçadinha, and a tragedy is announced.
