It depicts their experiences in a gymnasium, labour school, cadet dormitory, and their involvement in conflicts against Petliura’s forces and German interventionists, highlighting divisions by social status and political views. It consists of three parts: "Commissar Sergushin" (episodes 1-3); "The Haunted House" (episodes 4-5); "The City by the Sea" (episodes 6-7).
