A male and a female in their human forms are in love with each other. When the male turns back into a snake, he is shot by a member of a hunting party, who thought the snake was going to attack the woman. Enraged at the brutal killing of her beloved; the female snake begins to take revenge on the six involved, killing them one by one after assuming the form of a human.

Old woman Anandi moves to the city with her relatives and finds out their material side. She develops fondness for two rival street gangs of unemployed youth. These gangs are headed by two former friends turned foes in a time when society, politics and education are all losing their bearings in 1970s India.

Kiran too is attracted to Prakash. What Prakash does not know is that Mohan is a gangster, with many aliases, and he also does not know that Mohan is the same male his mother had been having an affair with when he was a child.

Architect and Poet Salim Ahmed Salim lives in Nizamuddin, India, along with his widowed mother. He re-locates to Lucknow where he is employed with Shirazi & Company. He instructs her not to leave the house, and when she persists, he sells the house and decides to re-locate to Lahore, Pakistan. Salim attempts to stop them but Hamid assaults him and leaves him senseless. Salim does recover but takes to alcohol and a Courtesan named Phoolrani in a big way. His mother intervenes, and compels him to get married to their new neighbor's daughter, Sahira, which he reluctantly does. Now trapped in a marriage with a woman he does not love, Salim continues to frequent Phoolrani's brothel, with hopes of being re-united with his estranged sweetheart - only to find that the seemingly demure Sahira will not let go of him that easily.

Shankar's brother remarries after the death of his first wife, and then Shankar wrongfully gets ousted from his own home by the new wife and her brother. Years later, he decides to expose their true intentions.

Concerned about the outbreak of plague in a distant rural village in India, Dr. D.D. Sinha asks a number of prominent doctors to go there and treat the ailing and prevent the disease from spreading. No one except his protégé, Dr. Paras, is prepared to go there. Dr. Paras travels there, works with the villagers to prevent the disease and treats the ailing, and is successful in preventing it's spreading to other communities. He meets with village belle, Lajwanti alias Lajjo, and both fall in love with each other.

Middle-classed young and dashing Rohit Kumar Saxena falls in love with wealthy and lovely Reshmi, and both decide to get married. Reshmi's dad, the wealthy Diwan Sardarilal is strongly opposed to this marriage, but relents when Reshmi refuses to marry anyone else. As a result, Rohit and Reshmi get married. Shortly after their marriage, Reshmi gets pregnant, news that is very well received. Then Reshmi enters a beauty pageant, and wins it - being crowned Miss India, with offers to travel abroad. Reshmi decides that she does not want the child now, but Rohit opposes this decision. Both quarrel, and separate, and Reshmi goes back to live with her dad. Shortly thereafter, Sardarilal sends a legal notice to Rohit asking for a divorce. Devastated, Rohit seeks employment, and finds it as a station master at a remote hill station. He meets with Reshmi and her dad, and is humiliated because he is poor.

This is a story of feudalism in it's raw state. The tonga and a certain simplicity of the village folk is exploited by the Jagirdar and his cohorts. Until the Chowkidar and a doctor -the only son of the money-lender- who initially obtains goodwill by curing people, and providing financial assistance for recovery want to start a change. The influence of the Jagirdar, incites the villagers and his thugs frame the Chowkidar, the doctor and threaten the well being of two women. Throught the film the Jagirdar deals with the sins of his father, will he be able to be a man, and acknowledge the crime of his father?

Overcome with his love for Asha, singer Chandermohan is forced to masquerade as an army officer when her father, a retired military officer, refuses to let her marry a civilian.

A group of 7 thieves decides to rob a huge amount of money from a heavily guarded palace. Problem arises when one of them turns Gaddaar (traitor) and runs away with all the looted money. As the group reaches the traitor's hideout to confront him, circumstances and greed leads to a bloodbath, while the true identity and motive of Raja also gets revealed.
