Balachander's classic of the same title, starring matinee idol Gemini Ganesan, which was a remake of 1962 Marathi language film To Mee Navhech (English: I Am Not Him), written by Pralhad K. Atre and acted by Prabhakar Panashikar. The thriller movie has Jeevan in the lead role and Sneha, Namitha, Malavika, Jyorthirmayi and Keerti Chawla as his five heroines. This movie created great expectations in the industry, because it was a hit when it was originally made in 1974. Shooting began in December 2006 and it was released in April 2007. The film became a success upon release.

Kartik (Prashant) on his way to attend a close friend Anand's (Anand), marriage sets eyes on Lakshmi (Kausalya) at a bus stop and falls for her. He with his friends reach the village and Kartik to his delight finds Lakshmi there. He sends her a love letter (as in the title) and then to his horror discovers that Lakshmi was the intended bride of Anand. The matter becomes public, with the whole village going in search of the anonymous letter writer. The scenes where Kartik's friends (Vivek, Damu, Vyapuri) ae mistaken for the senders of the letter and get a sound thrashing in turn, gives some comic relief. The marriage is meanwhile over and it is time to leave. And then Kartik comes out with his confession and makes a public apology to his friend and the family. His gesture is appreciated, the matter settled and the newly weds return to the city.

Naan Avanillai 2 (English: I am Not Him) is a 2009 Tamil romantic mystery film directed by Selva. It is the sequel to the Naan Avanillai (2007). Jeevan reprises the lead role, while the female roles are enacted by Sangeetha, Lakshmi Rai, Shweta Menon and Sruthi Prakash and Rachana Maurya. D. Imman, who did the film score for the first part of the film, replaced Vijay Antony as the music director. The film was released on 27 November 2009 to extremely negative reviews

Madhu steals the map to a treasure during an archaelogical expedition and couriers it to the baddies in the movie. Kodiswaran begins work in this courier firm owned by Tiruchitrambalam. He rents a room in a house where Vijayakumari, Goundamani & Senthil, and Sundari stay. Captain Vishwanath, Vijayakumari's son is Aamni's murai maapillai, but refuses to marry her because of his loyalty to the country. By chance Arvind, who is pursued by Swapna, gets hold of the treasure map and goes hunting - during a crossfire between the army and the baddies.

Based in Mumbai, Raja (Arjun) lives a violent yet poor lifestyle along with his father, Banwarilal. In the past, he had twin boys, but abandoned one of the twin baby because he was disabled. Karnaa is upset when he knew the truth and is now determined to win the case in front of his father.

Muthu, an orphan, works at an old age home and loves Roja, the daughter of the owner. But she is in a dilemma as she has to marry the son of her father's friend to save the home.

Sabapathy (Sathyaraj) is a widower cinema theatre owner and a school owner, he treats his son Sakthi (Sibiraj) like his friend. Lingam, Vijay's father, enters in the conflict. After some fights, Sakthi kills Lingam and Vijay.

The rest of the film is how Vijay assisted by two glam girls mete out vigilante justice in a cat-and-mouse game with the kidnappers.

R. Parthiban plays a die hard fan of Rambha and a self-interest governed taxi driver whose name is never revealed throughout the movie. Meena plays Mahalakshimi, the daughter of a "zamindar" who has lost all his money due to financial troubles; his death leaves Mahalakshimi with a lot of debts (over two lakhs worth). Parthipan is the taxi driver that drives Meena's dead father's corpse back to her hometown. There, the people that Mahalakshimi is now indebted to by Anand Raj who torture Mahalakshimi with cruel words for being unable to pay the debt. Later Parthiban helps her out by giving his taxi in replace to Meena's debt to save her at the point of time.

A boy joins a college that is full of rowdies. He transforms the students but his own past is shrouded in mystery. It is soon revealed that he is a prisoner attending college by special permission.

Nachiappan College is considered to be one of the worst college of Chennai; everyday violence erupts between two final-year groups. The students are influenced by the local bigwig Beeda Settu, who sells ganja to the students and basically rules the college from outside. The first group is led by Sudhakar whereas the other one is led by Kalaiarasan. The college management and the police get tired of that situation. They decide that they need to change the principal. The vice-president, Chandran, dies to sit in that post but the college management asks the successful Shanmugasundaram to take the post. His daughter Shobana will study in the same college. The rest of the story is how Shanmugasundaram succeeds in his mission.

But the major problem for Krishna is his playboy nature. Guru hopes that his boss will help him set up a company so that he can also become a boss and make money. Therefore he does everything to please him.Krishna falls for a model Seema (Mamta Mohandoss). Interestingly Guru also romances Seema. But coming to know that his boss is behind the girl, he decides to give up his romance to attain his personal goals. He goes hammer and tongs ensuring that Seema gets close with Krishna. But after a sequence of events, he realises that he yearns and craves for Seema. Did he give up his love for making it big in life or go hammer and tongs to hold Seema’s hands forms the climax.
