Biography
Brent Owens is a Producer/Director/Writer whose experience in the Motion Picture industry dates over thirty years working in many capacities over this period. Mr. Owens' credits include Producing, Directing, and Writing seven broadcast specials that premiered on Home Box Office's award-winning series, "America Undercover." These cutting edge specials include: "Hookers at the Point," and "Hookers At the Point: Going Out Again" "Hookers at the Point: Five Years Later," "Hookers & Johns: Trick or Treat," "Pimps Up, Ho's Down, Atlantic City Hookers: It Ain't E-Z Being A Ho," and Downtown Girls: The Hookers of Honolulu"; the specials received rave reviews and exceptional ratings on HBO. Mr. Owens produced and directed "The Bronx: A Cry For Help," an award-winning documentary (First Place - Black International Cinema - Berlin 1991), which was broadcast by PBS in the United States and several International stations, including Channel 4 in London.

Hookers at the Point

This is based on a true story. Solomon Northrop is a black man in the mid 19th century before slavery was abolished. He's a born free man who works as a carpenter and is also a part time musician. One day he is approached by some men who want him to play for them. However, that is not their intention; they have kidnapped him and sold him into slavery. Now he has to endure the hardships that he has been spared because of his status as a free man. And his family who don't know what happened to him is searching for him but where do they go? And Solomon also wishes to let them know where he is so that they could get him but unfortunately no one believes his story or is willing to help him.
