In the lush Yamabiko Village lives a family of Kappas who grow unique flowers on their heads. While the adults have permanent blossoms, a young kappa sprouts a different "whatever flower" every day until reaching adulthood. Chaos constantly erupts in the village as the villainous Kurobaya Chobei gang schemes to steal the "Waka-ran," a rare, youth-restoring flower, leaving everyone wondering what will bloom next. And what on earth will the little kappa’s flower turn out to be?
Hana Kappa, who was always getting scolded by his mom, would join his friends in complaining about his nagging mother. One day, however, a "Butterfly Warrior" arrived in Yamabiko Village, and all the mothers in the village were kidnapped. Hana Kappa and his friends set out on an adventure to rescue the mothers, accompanied by a mysterious boy named Polu, whom they met by chance.
When Momo Kappa and Ageru demand to know whether he prefers bread or rice, Hana Kappa accidentally blooms a flower that transforms them into a panda and a pig! Worse yet, a single wink from either of them turns his other friends into animals, too. Can Hana Kappa find a way to fix this musical mess? Sing and dance along in this fun HANAKAPPA short!
After winning a trip to space at a sketchy festival raffle, Hana Kappa and his friends board a spaceship belonging to Apo and Sol—two aliens from a flowerless planet called Nahanaha. The aliens ask Hana Kappa to use his flower-blooming powers to save their world. As they journey across the galaxy, the group explores the solar system and learns about the constellations in this fun, educational planetarium adventure!
