Eight-year-old Silas lives with his mother and beloved grandmother at the foot of Table Mountain, where stories of Dreamland capture his imagination. After Grandma’s sudden death, Silas refuses to accept this loss and believes she simply got lost in Dreamland. He goes to Dreamland to look for her, but it doesn’t seem like he remembers it anymore. It feels like he’s just walking in circles. Meanwhile, the neighbors’ fearless daughter, Willemien, and a strange creature named Brommel unexpectedly appear at his side, and a terrifying polar bear begins to hunt them.
Beter as Gister is a South African, Afrikaans-language television drama series which revolves around four families and especially the role of the men in them, inspired by the question: Why are fathers held to a different standard than mothers?
