Rob Schoenmakers

Biography

Rob Schoenmakers is a Dutch musician, educator, and music programmer based in Groningen, Netherlands. He is best known as the drummer and backing vocalist for the high-energy punk/boyband TAXITAXI, performing under the playful stage name 'Roberto Cornetto'. Schoenmakers studied Music Education at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen and has been a staple of the local indie scene for over a decade. Since 2015, he has served as the frontman, singer, and guitarist for the indie rock band The Desmonds. Seeking a project focused entirely on raw energy and fun rather than perfectionism, he co-founded TAXITAXI in 2022 alongside Fred Goverde and Rob Stefano. Sporting matching mechanic jumpsuits, his powerful drumming helped propel the trio to national showcase success at festivals like Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS), Paaspop, and Popronde. Outside of performing, Schoenmakers works as a music and arts teacher at Harens Lyceum and serves as a talent programmer for the music venue Simplon UP.
