Biography
Suha Belal is an Egyptian-American filmmaker based in Cairo. Her first short documentary, Crooked Rib (2017), screened in Tunisia and at the Cairo International Women’s Film Festival. A graduate of The Jesuit Cairo Film School, she codirected Pieces of a Woman (2023), worked in production and assistant directing on films including Spring Came on Laughing and Cotton Queen, and produced The Push and Happy Birthday, Jesus. Her Super 8 short Sharbat (2024) won the Audience Award at the Two. Five Film Festival. Her latest film, Of Burning Wounds and Memories, produced by Netflix and The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), screened at El Gouna Film Festival and The Red Sea International Film Festival.
