Alexei Ivanovich Tyutyurin, a very kind and gentle man by nature, has been working as a hairdresser for twenty years. When the opportunity arises to upgrade to the head of the hall, he is faced with a problem — in the team he has a reputation as a constantly late person and an incorrigible liar. But Alexei doesn't deceive anyone — he really gets into unusual situations on the way to work. No one believes in these fables until amazing visitors begin to come to the hairdresser.

The Russian Kostya and the Bulgarian Petko work at two different sites of a gas pipeline spanning the whole length of the Soviet Union. Just of a few kilometers and there will be ribbon cutting, awards and bonuses. However, it is a fertile Russian land. The two brigadier friends go around all instances, they ask and plea. For "rebelling activities", the brigadiers are criticized. A new inquiry is submitted to Moscow. The reply is slow. Then the workers decide to change the terrain on their responsibility. But an airplane breakdown forces the pilot to land next to the village in which Andrei lives and works...

Set in the Soviet Union in the 70's. The plot is based on real industrial conflicts in the life of the country's largest metallurgical plant, where there are many acute problems. Modernization of Soviet metallurgical industry causes a clash between old style Communist bosses and the new generation of engineers and managers.

A young man comes to work to kolkhoz where no one knows that he has no experience whatsoever.
