A young writer brings a collection of short stories to a big Moscow publishing house. The manuscript stays at the office and mysteriously influences the lives of anyone who opens it and reads at least one page. There are four stories in the manuscript, and four readers whose lives are changed after reading them. The situations range from realistic to absurd to thrilling to create a rich portrait of life in contemporary Russia and showcase the thoughts, feelings and ambitions of people who live there.

The real actress Julia Aug, like her character, is also in Buryatia for the first time. The documentary, filmed during the shooting of the film, shows the real Julia's feelings and experiences while she discovers the unique atmosphere, nature and culture of Buryatia.

Olya and Mitya love each other very much and do not want to live life like "ordinary people". The gray reality and the prospect of turning into ordinary people frightens them. The future is poorly predicted. But why predict something that can be done? Professionals are already rushing to help, everything will be organized.

She considers that her homeland is Russia and wants to serve at the Ministry of the Interior. Macha has chosen college rather than an actress career and she wants to help people. During the filming, the life of each of them has changed. What is their homeland now and in what role do they want to serve it?
