The film was a remake of the 1986 Malayalam film Gandhinagar 2nd Street starring Mohanlal and Karthika directed by Sathyan Anthikad. The film is a mixture of comedy, romance, sentiments and affection. It was a profitable venture for Vivekananda Film Circuit K.Padmavathi.

The secret son-in-law of an influential family, where everyone hates love and romance, arrives posing as a servant in order to gain their affection.

Rolex is a smart international smuggler on the run. The fearless Assistant Commissioner Jai Kumar arrests him. Jai Kumar and Raji are in love, then they get married. Gangamma, knowing their love affair, hurts heavily Rahul in front of Kathirvel and Subramani and they reached Rahul to the nearby hospital. Reshma insults Kathirvel for being passive during the attack and Kathirvel tells his tragic past to Reshma. In the past, Kathirvel was in love with Reshma's sister Meenakshi. They So Gangamma tried to kill Kathirvel but Meenakshi intervened and was accidentally by her mother. Before her death, Kathirvel promised Meenakshi to not kill her mother. Kathirvel is now determined to unite the lovers. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Vinodh (Kunal) and Manoj (Karan) are best friends. Manoj gives Vinodh a manager job of his three-star hotel. They both are in love with Neetha (Monal), but Neetha is actually in love with Vinodh. This causes a strain in their friendship, and Manoj fires Vinodh from his manager job. The film ends with a message to the audience that 'love is divine (pleasing) but friendship is pristine (unspoilt)

A man and his friend try to save a bag containing a hefty sum, which they hide in an empty house. When they return for the bag, the house is occupied by a girl and her family.

Raghavan (Sarathkumar) and Velu (Vadivelu) work as cooks in a non-veg hotel. Raghavan loves Geetha (Kiran) who is the daughter of a rich man (Vijayan), but her father is against this love and insults him as a poor man. Raghavan challenges that he will be rich in a year. There is a subplot in the story, for Meenakshi (Sharmili), a daughter from a rich family; she is the apple of the eye of the family. Meenakshi ran home with her lover Raju, who worked as a driver to her house. He tells that his friend Dinesh will help them. However, Raju escaped because he saw a bad dream where he is killed by her family as if it will happen in reality. Due to that he vanishes. Raghavan understood her plight and helps her.

A self centred egoistic village zamindar who makes fun of people, is rude by nature and brash tries to accommodate a teacher who comes to his village in search of work. How she gets to understand him, how he reacts and how his uncle's daughter who initially adversely reacts to his tantrums reacts towards the end is the story. In short it is a triple edged love story with truth, passion and emotions galore.

Kannan's (Karthik) ambition in life is to take up the construction of the temple left incomplete by his forefathers. Funds are not forthcoming. Goundamani assures him that with his employer's help Kannan's dream could become a reality. But Goundamani is disappointed when his employer, the wealthy landlady's (Manorama) grandson Raghu (Ranjith) turns out to be money minded and heartless. In a fit of anger, Goundamani pushes him into the waters of a river and thinks he has committed a murder. Predictably Kannan is made to enter the scene as an impostor. What follows next forms the crux of the story.

Nandhu, a professional blackmailer, meets Gayathri, his childhood love who has always wanted to marry a doctor. Things complicate when Nandhu learns that she is already with a doctor.
