Biography
Veljo Käsper (May 13, 1930 Tallinn – March 16, 1982 Tallinn) was an Estonian film director and scenarist. In 1964 he graduated from Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. Since 1960 he worked at Tallinnfilm. As a film director, he often dared to experiment with points of view that were not always in line with the will of the communist party ideology that was ruling at the time.
Known For

The story is about a woman, who has to heat up the company's sauna, because the bosses want to entertain foreign visitors. The sauna is situated in a small village where her ex-husband is from, and an old aunt of his is still living. In addition to having to face her bosses she also has to face her past.

Time to Live, Time to Love

Young Saale, the girl in black with her small suitcase, comes to live with her aunt in a fishermen's village. Her only precious thing is a glass ball that is a memory of her mother whose death has left Saale alone in the world. She has been repelled and humiliated, so she is not expecting anything good to come from people. For her surprise, young fisherman Tanel is ready to walk with her by the sea even if they won't speak a word. He doesn't think Saale is strange and he won't ridicule her for her religious views. Slowly, Saale opens up for the bright sides of earthly life.

The action takes place during the great Patriotic war. Nurse Maret considered the Director of the clinic a decent person, although he tries to remain politically neutral in relation to the occupiers. One day, a severely wounded Communist underground worker, Thomas, was admitted to the clinic. After performing a complex operation, the doctor restored his life. Nurse Maret was nursing a patient. But then the doctor hands Thomas over to the Gestapo. Outraged patients angrily condemn the doctor's action.

Postmark from Vienna

Engineer Lembit with his construction team arrives at a small island to build a sheep farm. They are accommodated in the house of a middle-aged woman Marta and her daughter Kaja. The everyday routine will change when after some time everyone's controlled behaviour starts to change, expressing suppressed problems and yearning for warmth and love.
Rowan Gates
The end of the Great Patriotic War. Soviet troops arrive in a city abandoned by the fascists. Two women from the operational group find shelter in a house that, apparently, had been recently occupied by a German officer. Among the abandoned belongings is a lady's pink hat. The next morning, after leaving the house, one of the women decides to return for the hat and dies: the beautiful pink hat was booby-trapped.

Two young men ski through snowy Estonia, getting to know some beautiful landscapes and industry. The skiing ends with sauna and a dance party.
