So the stage is set for lots of fun and games, in the right old style.

Bastian and Lene are a good couple, as a journalist and press photographer. They take turns to get ideas for how to get a scoop for the magazine "Tit og Lyt". They agree to play husband and wife so that Bastian can get an apartment. Lene is deeply in love with Bastian why she gets their mutual friend Soren to send a man from the housing authority. He says that they most have one child to stay in the apartment.

Anders returns to Denmark to visit his ill mom too late. Her lawyer tells him he's the illegitimate child of an estate owner. He goes there incognito and works on the big farm and falls for the maid and later for a gold digger.

In the vicinity of Copenhagen, a group of pensioners live in a very large villa. The owner, Doctor Bach, has invited a colleague, the young master Peter Park , to visit him. They have a common interest that they could discuss during his stay. When he arrives, it is at a most inconvenient time. He is greeted by the doctor's sister, the almost deaf Camilla, who does not understand much of what is going on around her. The doctor has completely forgotten that he invited Park, but he settles him into the villa nonetheless. Here, Park meets the doctor's granddaughter, the young and beautiful Lise Bach (Henriette Normann), to whom he is immediately attracted. When Lise asks her grandfather if he is going out again, the doctor explains that he is going to the cinema with his good friend Friis.

Two young skippers, Hans Tønnesen and Poul Nielsen, have a small cargo ship that transports freight from Copenhagen to the provinces. Poul and Hans are in love with the same girl, Margit, who is the daughter of master baker Bonnekamp. However, Margit chooses Poul. On their wedding night, Hans cannot sleep. He sits in his boat and hears a splash in the water. He jumps into the water and rescues a young girl, Kristiane, from drowning. She is distraught because she is pregnant and does not dare tell her parents. Hans offers to marry her and acknowledge paternity, but on the way to his own wedding, his engine stalls.

The dream of the future is incarnated by a young woman, Karen, who shows Svend the visions of a better life in the 'youth's land'. There are homes and a nuclear-powered car for everyone.

A woman from the upper middle class impulsively leaves her boring husband and travels down through Germany with a truck driver. Back home in the small town, the husband tries to cover up his wife's disappearance from their son. Although a romantic relationship has developed between the woman and the truck driver, she has nevertheless realized the importance of home and of solving problems on the spot rather than running away from others or herself out of fear of not being able to cope.

The beginning of the 20th century. The main character is the young, charming Count Pierre de Sauterne. There have been several conflicts between him and his aristocratic uncle, who, due to his fanatical interest in cars, is called Tøf-Tøf. The authoritative older gentleman also has a pronounced weakness for the female sex, and it irritates him that his nephew far surpasses him in this regard. A fictional character, Rasmus Nielsen, travels around the country, first as a traveling teacher, later in other positions, and through his experiences we are introduced to the conditions of various population groups. The central figure in the portrayal of historical figures is the politician Orla Lehmann.
