Biography
Syed Umar Imam is a cinematographer based in Karachi, Pakistan, who works as a full-time Director of Photography (DoP) while concurrently pursuing his bachelor's degree. With over two years of experience, he has earned three national videomaking awards. His work has been selected for multiple film festivals; notably, his film "Date #47" gained recognition at national and international festivals. As a DoP, Imam has worked on numerous award-winning short films and collaborated with major brands to create social media content. Umar views cinematography as a language, using camera shots and sizes, lighting, and composition to tell stories. He favors shooting handheld, using motion to communicate emotion, and is deeply drawn to the on-set experience that comes with being a DoP. His goal is to captivate audiences through compelling storylines, presented with gripping visuals.
