God's Lining presents the dramatic fate of Marianna Jurewiczówna, her family, and the inhabitants of the Vilnius region from 1900 to 1945. The series begins in 1900, when Marianna, the youngest child of Maria and Andrzej Jurewicz, is born. Through Maryśka's eyes, we meet a succession of characters passing through the manor: the order-takers (Bartłomiej), the slackers (e.g., Mickiewicz), the peasant farmhands (e.g., Antośka), the servants (e.g., Walunia), and various misfits, rejected and ridiculed (e.g., the foolish Maryla), just like the main character. Marianna Jurewiczówna is called "niedonosek" by her family because of her premature birth; she feels unloved and rejected, misunderstood, and different. The series concludes in 1945, during the so-called first repatriation.

A cheerful series about the adventures of a group of children living in the countryside, produced in a Polish-West German co-production (the pictures were taken in picturesque locations in Dąbrowa nad Czarna, as well as in sand caves near Sulejów). The biggest attraction of the area is the historic water mill, which becomes a great place for fun for an amused crowd. Early 90's. The political and economic landscape of Poland, Russia and Germany is changing. Both good and bad sides of freedom are revealed. The mafia is becoming more and more bold, operating without obstacles across borders. A young Russian aristocrat, Baron Fyodor Jeremin, volunteers to serve with a Dragon squadron to impress the girl who rejected his love. Just at this time the 1863 insurrection explodes in Poland. He enlists to serve in the army being sent to suppress the revolt. He believes that now it's enough to defeat the Poles, become an officer and hero, get a bunch of medals, and then return and lay all of this at the feet of her beloved. However, the "little Polish war" looks completely different to the way that young Jeremin imagined it to be. In course of time, he learns to be on the wrong side. But there is no escape - he must kill or he will be killed. What's more, he falls in love with a beautiful Polish girl...

After the woman's death, an auction of her estate takes place. The writer Alexander Dumas buys the book, but less than a few days later a certain Mr. Armand Duval shows up at his house, for whom the literary man's acquisition is an extremely valuable heirloom. It turns out that Duval was Margaret's lover, but their relationship ended in tragedy. The unusual visitor decides to tell the writer the dramatic story of his love.
