An invitation to a musical voyage. Armenia, with a virtuoso trumpet concerto, Norway, with character studies, and the call of America - or nostalgia for Bohemia - with Dvořák's Ninth. The Yerevan Youth Symphony Orchestra is galvanised by Sergueï Smbatyan's direction and accompanies trumpeter Sergueï Nakariakov.

For 26 years now, this group of young musicians from all over the European Union has been delighting audiences at the Young Euro Classic festival. It's a project that illustrates the vitality of our continent's musical life. In the first half of the evening, Spanish cellist Pablo Ferrández performs Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1.

A selection of some of the finest performances from youth orchestras participating in the 2022 edition of the Young Euro Classic festival in Berlin.

For its opening concert, the Young Euro Classic features Austrian conductor Katharina Wincor and Romanian violinist Ioana Cristina Goicea. The two women will be joined on stage by the Romanian Youth Orchestra, who have already played a starring role at the Berlin festival.

Conductor Vitali Alekseenok pays tribute to the stifled uprising of the Belarusian people in 2020 and 2021. A concert presented at Ludwigsburg Castle, featuring works composed by young musicians from this country in crisis.
