In the near future, Norway is occupied by Russia on behalf of the European Union, due to the fact that the newly elected environmental friendly Norwegian government has stopped the all important oil- and gas-production in the North Sea.

Set in conservative Norway from the 1970s through the 1990s, chart the rise and fall of a family empire built on adult entertainment - through the VHS boom, censorship crackdowns, and shifting cultural norms.

40-year-old Elling, sensitive, would-be poet, is sent to live in a state institution when his mother, who has sheltered him his entire life, dies. There he meets Kjell Bjarne, a gentle giant and female-obsessed virgin, also in his 40s.

In a dark cell at Akershus Fortress sits the man who committed the greatest treason of all: Vidkun Quisling. Now he must be held accountable for his actions and the atrocities that Nazi ideology led to.

An international oil drilling company hires private investigator Varg Veum to find their missing systems designer, Arne Samuelsen. Emil (30) is unemployed, he is angry and looks down on everyone else. Petter (60) is a Norwegian renowned scriptwriter who wants to make a film about the national hero Fridtjof Nansen. Two men and one boy, one day in Oslo, whom all experiences a social and emotional fall. The film discusses the male role in the contemporary Norway.

The middle aged Marianne has a disillusioned daughter of 16 with no belief in her future. She becomes a punk and starts getting in conflict with the police, and Marianne realizes she supports her daughters cause to fight against the madness.

When Ellen and her two brothers gather in their childhood home to sort through the inheritance left by their father, a renowned composer, old memories and unresolved conflicts resurface. The house, filled with musical traces and childhood artifacts, becomes a stage for emotional reckoning.

We follow a maternity group for a year. Parents and babies who are put together in groups of the health station and who meet at each other's home and eat lunch. Some of them have big plans. They will buy and sell property. Some are concerned about doing things right. Can babies eat cucumbers? What about cheese?
