Fashion designer Andréa Vargas finds out the hard way she is adopted. The relationship with her sister Júlia had always been difficult, since childhood, and the antagonism grew when Júlia came between Andréa and her first true love, Diogo. But the worst is still to come: her first assistant in her atelier, Selma, is having an affair with her husband Bruno.

Opposite Lives tells the story of Miguel (Leo Rosa), a young rich man of a traditional family, and Joana (Maytê Piragibe), a student and tourist guide who lives in a slum. Although dating an elegant and rich fashion designer, Erínia (Lavínia Vlasak), Miguel and Joana fall in love for each other and they decide to get married.

Set in the fictional city of Maramores, the plot centers on the character of Lívia, whose destiny begins to be shaped in the 12th century when the vampire Boris falls madly in love with her and decides to win her over at any cost, regardless of time or place. In medieval times, Lívia is Princess Cecília, Beto is Count Rogério, and Boris is Duke Boris. The present-day story begins with the introduction of Lívia's story, her husband Beto, and their children, Zeca, Tetê, and Juninho. The family's happiness will be destroyed, just as in Lívia and Beto's past lives (Princess Cecília and Count Rogério), by the reappearance of the vampire Boris. He wants to reclaim Zeca, who is not actually Lívia and Beto's son, but his son with a mistress. As soon as he was born, while still in the maternity ward, Boris placed Zeca in the place of Lívia's true son.

Rui and Vani, are a couple facing normal discussions, problems and situations such as infidelity and convivency problems, but they solve it with great humor.

The action takes place in a middle class condo where Olímpia, a clumsy maid, carries out the most unbelievable confusions, making everybody believes that love is a game in which one always cheats.

A pawn shop proprietor buys used goods from desperate locals – as much to play perverse power games as for his own livelihood, but when the perfect rump and a backed-up toilet enter his life, he loses all control.
