A travelling theater-company performs Offenbach's "The Beautiful Helene" when an officer in the audience notices the similarity in appearance between the leading actor Leonard Pettersson and the king Charles XV. With Pettersson dressed as the king and the other actors as the royal suite, they all go to Herrsunda castle where the officer is trying to make an impression on his fiance.

The lonesome Johannes gets a phone call from Gösta Bernhard who wants to come over to him for a vacation in the archipelago.

Bertil Lund works at the wholesaling company Everything for the Baby. The supervisor Fredriksson is considering promoting him to vice-president but there is one obstacle: Bertil is yet unmarried and is thus considered unsuitable. On a tourist trip abroad the passengers on the coach witness an assassination attempt on the President Hurkas. One of the tourists has evidence against the perpetrators, and is killed when the coach reaches Sweden. Another passenger observes how one of the perpetrators is picked up by a yellow car. She is kidnapped and locked up in a mental hospital.
