Matador is a Danish TV series produced and shown between 1978 and 1982. It is set in the fictional Danish town of Korsbæk between 1929 and 1947. It follows the lives of a range of characters from across the social spectrum, focusing specifically on the rivalry between the families of two businessmen: The banker Hans Christian Varnæs, an established local worthy, and social climber Mads Skjern, who arrives in town as the series opens. The name Matador was taken from the localised edition of the boardgame Monopoly, also the series' tentative English title. In addition, in contemporary Danish a "matador" is often used to describe a business tycoon, in the series referring to the character of Mads Skjern and his craftiness as a self-made entrepreneur. Directed by famed Danish film maker Erik Balling, Matador was the idea of author Lise Nørgaard who wrote the bulk of the episodes alongside Karen Smith, Jens Louis Petersen and Paul Hammerich. The series is one of the most well-known and popular examples of Danish television and represents the peak of longtime development of Danish TV drama by the public service channel Danmarks Radio. The series has become part of the modern self-understanding of Danes, partly because of its successful mix of melodrama and a distinct warm Danish humour in the depiction of characters, which were portrayed by a wide range of the most popular Danish actors at the time; but also not least because of its accurate portrayal of a turbulent Denmark from around the start of the Great Depression and through Nazi Germany's occupation of Denmark in World War II.

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix is an annual music competition organised by Danish public broadcaster Danmarks Radio, which determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced three Eurovision winners and thirteen top-five placings.

Sømanden Otto (Brandenburg) har bugseret sit gode skib ”Julia” ind i Skilteskoven. Her nyder han freden og roen, alene med sin trofaste følgesvend, papegøjen Bounty (Søren Thorup), og ugentligt besøg af Landhandelens Karen-Marie (Karin Jagd), indtil borgmesterens datter ”Henry” (Amalie Ihle Alstrup) farer vild, og søger nattely på skibet… Duftforhandleren Viggo Velva (Axel Strøbye) har dog ikke tænkt sig, at Otto skal blive i granskoven. Han forsøger, på alle (lovlige og ulovlige) måder, at overtage skoven, for at kunne brænde den ned, så han kan bruge duften af afbrændt gran til sit nyeste projekt ”Jul på Dåse”. I bunden af skibet ”Julia”, det sted Otto kalder Sumpen, bor de tre nisser; Kogle, Multe og Stub (LINIE 3). Christianshavn 1894 - Headstrong Juliane fights alongside her husband Otto for love and family in strike-ridden Christianshavn. The couple has been married for five years and has two children together. Trade union politics are taking up more and more of Otto's life, and Juliane cannot even get him to tone it down at family gatherings, so Juliane has her hands full keeping track of the home and the children. The family argues about big and small things, from the sisters' disagreement about women's liberation to Otto's political involvement.

The story of Juliane, a young woman who learns how to take her fate in her own hands and to trust nobody but herself. The plot is set in the Copenhagen tenements of the 1880s. Juliane is trapped in an unhappy marriage to a man who suffers extended periods of insanity. They have two children. She struggles to improve her social status, however, striving to attain the level of her two elder sisters is not easy. The great upheaval comes when she meets Otto, a smith, younger than Juliane, and in many ways her opposite. He is an ardent socialist, whereas she believes in herself. It is love at first sight when they meet and waltz on the pavement, but their passion really bursts into flame as time goes by. At last Juliane has found a man as strong-willed as she is.

A family is held prisoner in their own house, when a summit conference is to be held in Nærum. The terrorist group has the plan of preventing this meeting and therefor capturing a family, and their house until the conference is held. Frederik, the main character, wants to stop them and with a little help from his friends, they try.

Detective Mortensen is certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed, but despite his obvious incompetence, he is assigned to track down a group of drug gangsters. Nothing good comes of it. Only coincidences and extreme luck keep the investigation on track, even though Mortensen's highly questionable methods constantly threaten to ruin everything.

The evil lawyer wants to take over the estate, and the evil farmer Esben helps him. But if the good farmer Svend Åge gets the red cow Rosa to bellow while Niels Peder yodels, then the horse that the stable boy Morten is riding on the trotting track will run faster and win the race. Then the lawyer will no longer be able to take over the estate, but it could all go down the drain if he steals Rosa.
