After the death of the paranoid emperor Tiberius, Caligula, his heir, seizes power and plunges the empire into a bloody spiral of madness and depravity.

Oliviero is a drunk, burned-out writer who amuses himself by hosting orgies at his grand country manor and humiliating his wife Irina. When a number of women are murdered in grisly fashion, Oliviero becomes a prime suspect.

In a secluded villa, a couple and her daughter and a girl are kidnapped by two thugs.

A left-wing intellectual of middle age, with a past in the Italian Social Republic , after the end of the second marriage with a black woman, falls in love with a very young, girlfriend of his son, and with her he flees to the Caribbean. Once the vacation is over, love also ends. In some ways the film is an autobiography of the director.

With her sister's help, an unhappy housewife plots her revenge upon the men who have mistreated her with a display of sexual excess.
