Shun Satô

MPD Psycho (full title: Multiple Personality Detective Psycho – Kazuhiko Amamiya Returns) is a six-part Japanese surrealist horror miniseries directed by Takashi Miike, based on Eiji Ōtsuka's manga series of the same name. Homicide detective Yosuke Kobayashi saw his wife killed by serial killer Shinji Nishizono. From the shock of the incident, he suffers from multiple personality disorder and becomes Kazuhiko Amamiya. Soon after, he goes on the hunt for revenge.

Reporter Nukada's next big assignment is the secret world of Japanese phone sex clubs. He gets in touch with Midori, a part-time employee at the Banana Club, but is startled to hear she's been implicated in the bloody death of a client with perverted tastes, Kihara. Sensing a bigger story, Nukada uncovers a link between Midori and the late Kihara's wife and realizes that the situation is much more complex than he imagined.

A visit to the employment office, practicing dance steps, making music with friends: several women’s everyday lives are captured in long shots and with a superb sense of place. A film like a summer's day, bright, friendly, with the occasional chill.
