Aber Bergen is an entertaining courtroom drama about the recently separated , but for the time being professional partners, Erik Aber and Elea Bergen. They are two of the country's sharpest defense attorneys, who together with an unorthodox team lawyers have built up a reputable law firm, where they attempt to balance professional and private as they are thrown between moral, political and legal dilemmas.

Detectives Jonas and Erik are called to the midnight sun country of northern Norway to investigate a recent homicide, but their plan to arrest the killer goes awry, and Jonas mistakenly shoots Erik. The suspect escapes, and a frightened Jonas pins Erik's death on the fugitive. Jonas continues to pursue the killer as he seeks to protect himself; however, his mounting guilt and the omnipresent sun plague him with an insomnia that affects his sanity.

Knut Hamsun is Norway's most famous and admired author. Ever since he was young he has hated the English for the starvation they caused Norway during WWI. When the Germans occupy Norway 9 April 1940 he welcomes them and the protection they can give from Great Britain. In the not-so-distant past, somewhere in northern Norway. The main character is Margit, an orphaned young girl. She has been sent to live on the farm of Krestian and Johanna, where we also find the farmhand Bæla, a physical giant but mentally still a child. Krestian and Simon, his brother, are constantly fighting with each other, and Simon tempts Bæla with "a thousand kroner" to get him to "beat the crap out of Krestian." Margit senses that something is about to happen and tries to prevent Bæla from becoming a murderer.
