Rebecca, the daughter of missionary Lawrence Byrne, was declared a “miracle” after she survived a plane crash as a child, deep in the Amazon Forest. Years later, Rebecca, who became a famous healer in the region, and her father find themselves embroiled in an escalating conflict when illegal loggers invade the land belonging to the indigenous people they are evangelizing.
Angela is a French art student living in Germany who loves to draw comics and creates elaborate tales drawn in a soft and romantic style. One night, Angela meets Yamamoto, a club DJ from Japan, who invites her to come to Tokyo with him. 10 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, at the "Perfect Sight" campsite, located on the Island of Rügen on the German Baltic Sea coast: the former state property has been taken over by an ex-officer of the German army. Now the new moved in West German rules the site. Anyone who opposes him is banned. With a little imagination and a few tricks, he wanted to make the deal of a lifetime. But he has miscalculated and run the property into the ground, bankruptcy is imminent. His employee, the Vietnamese German Pit Sun, somehow keeps the place together and has a child with the owner's daughter. But since he hasn't received any money for a long time, he wants to run away to Vietnam. The tradition-conscious East German campers are also not happy with the bad-tempered campsite operator. It's just as well that Claus Oehlke has robbed a bank and is only throwing the money around to impress his wife. But she only has eyes for the former GDR crooner Michi Fanselow, the dream of her youth.
Stevie, a precocious 14-year-old girl must cope with the instabilities of her immoderate parents. Whilst her parents playfully escape their responsibilities, Stevie tries to make a good impression in town, spreading stories of grandeur and claiming to be the daughter of a diplomat. She makes progress. Yet the good weather doesn’t last and before long, she discovers that her parents have once more resorted to illegal means, as a way of supporting their leisurely lifestyle. As friends and hangers-on of her parents fill their new home, the chaos continually mounts. It is in this atmosphere of physical and emotional destruction, that Stevie must now start to define herself and perhaps even break free.
