The film reflects on the life of the authors of the film, while living in Norway for half a year. The director and cameraman document the landscapes of western Norway and the people they meet along the way, while the couple's conversations during long car rides through the mountain landscapes bring up the making of the film and its impact on their relationship.

When eight-year-old, observant Mare attends a funeral for the first time, the adults’ somber and confusing behavior drives her to seek refuge in her imagination.
