Marioneta is proud and wealthy Spaniard living in 1980s Quito, Ecuador. As she goes through her life, Marioneta encounters a diverse group of eccentric and ambitious women as they all navigate the ups and downs of love, family and cuys.

Ivan, a Belgian journalist on sabbatical in Mexico, starts following the trail of a mysterious writer called Celestino Pérez. Upon arrival in the village where Celestino lives, he turns out to be absent. Ivan is taken in by the writer's family. He soon finds himself trapped in their house, mirroring his own experience with his imagination about Celestino.

A wealthy woman travels to Ecuador to breed guinea pigs for profit, but her life is soon complicated by a mysterious stalker.
