Biography
Carlos Méndez (Guatemala, 2004) is a filmmaker with a multidisciplinary background, he has developed a holistic approach to cinema, gaining experience in directing, cinematography, editing, sound design, and music composition. As a director, he has created the short films Una hora de silencio (2023), Blanco (2024), and Musique (2024), in which he explores themes such as confinement, repetition, and loss of identity through a minimalist and contemplative aesthetic. His narrative style is marked by the use of silence, slow pacing, and visually symbolic language. In addition to directing, he also composes the original scores for his films, aiming to build a distinct sonic identity that enhances the emotional and narrative depth of each piece. His musical work, both in cinema and independent projects, allows him to seamlessly blend sound and storytelling with a personal sensibility.
