This is the story of Essence, a 17-year-old black girl who’s recently transferred to a primarily white boarding school.

A silent short film about crying.

I was supposed to make another music video but I couldn't. I couldn't do it anymore. I needed to make a weapon. A device I could finally torture myself inside of, for real, forever.

Married two and half years, with a son 15 months old, and just finishing her residency as a Naturopathic physician, Jenni Kleinman Berebitsky at age 33 was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease). In both Jenni's book, ALS Saved My Life and Grateful: The Jenni Berebitsky Story, the short documentary by Studio Nethercott, Jenni boldly shares what her life has been like with ALS and how she chooses to move forward.

So, this is my thesis film that I spent three semesters making. Special thanks to Ihsan Zirih for helping me make this movie look extra crispy. I'm wicked proud of this, and I hope you all enjoy it!

An experimental retelling of the tortured artist, structured around four elements: water, people, landscape, and night. While the narrative is fictional, the film originated from a story my father told me about encountering a dead body in the woods as a child.
