Chen Chi-ju

In 2006, Detective Chang leads a police investigation into a murder committed in a public marketplace. Chang discovers the victim's father has ties to several other families with dead or missing members, and a grim espionage case buried for 50 years in Taiwan's past. Meanwhile, the kidnapped Mr. Hsu is interrogated by a mysterious mastermind. As the truth emerges, the embers of history become a deadly wildfire.

This spectacularly eccentric satire by Su Hui-Yu draws on 1970s Taiwanese TV culture and has a roller-skating Hitler dance with Stalin and Mao do the same with Chiang Kai-shek. A revue show of dictators in cahoots with the entertainment industry.

Wai has been living with her father David ever since her mother abandoned them. Wai always compromises with David in order to deal with the fact that he overly controls her. They rely on each other, but they have a love-hate relationship. David broke his leg from an accident at a construction site. He intentionally concealed his recover details to the social worker, in order to get compensation payments. One day, the social worker paid them a visit. A stormy conflict between the father and the daughter had just begun.

In this insect equivalent of a theatrical fine-dining experience, termite butchers, with musical accompaniment of a termite pianist, perform a ritualistic slaughter on a piece of power cable. The fact that their climate crisis-induced dietary choice also causes power outages in human cities is the proverbial cherry on the cable. A delightfully strange and pleasantly icky spectacle that combines costume play and animation. Eat up!
