In Canoa do Bagre, on the coast of SĂŁo Paulo, Juarez and Gustavo are former youth friends who took very different paths: the first became a powerful businessman after stealing his late boss's money, while the second prospered on his own merit with a transport company. Juarez's dream is to destroy the fishing village to expand his resort, but Gustavo is the biggest opponent and leads the residents against it. Juarez's life changes when Clarita, the woman who abandoned him in the past and made him become a bitter man, returns to discover that he is rich, bringing their daughter, Marilena.
