Biography
An Iranian poet, writer, and filmmaker known for his dissent, born in the city of Ahvaz. Most of his works have been censored or banned. His career as a director includes two television series and five feature films. He is the winner of the 2016 Moondance Award for adults and youth and has participated in international festivals such as Moscow, Busan, Durban (South Africa), and Kazan.

The series Ghorbat tells the story of women fighting for freedom while living under the oppression of a ruthless dictator. These women secretly plan to escape from his clutches, but to do so, they need financial resources. Desperation drives them to hatch a secret plan to steal from the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, a governmental institution. However, just as they are on the verge of carrying out the heist, the dictator of the region, Ghorbat, captures them. In response, the dictator declares martial law, making life unbearable for the women. In secrecy, the women convene and decide that instead of fleeing, they must stand up to the dictator. Even if it means risking their lives, they are determined to fight for their freedom.
