Told from the defendant’s point of view, each episode opens in a courtroom on the accused without knowing their crime or how they ended up on trial.

Summer. 1994. Emily is cast as the youngest member of an avant garde theatre production. She is immediately entranced by the bohemian lives of her fellow actors and feels like she has found a surrogate family, but as the lines between artistic and personal relationships blur, Emily becomes trapped in the complex power dynamics within the group.

Sammy is a queer millennial with a precarious life and all the anxieties that go with it. When they make a snap decision to shoplift, their mental health takes a spiral - until they get a lesson from the last person they'd expect.
