Azat blames his father for not achieving financial success in his youth and drinking a lot. After a quarrel caused by these problems, Azat finds himself in 1994, the year when his parents had just married. As a result, he tries to avoid a repeat of their fate and thinks, by interfering with their wedding, that he has the opportunity to change his life.

Madi, a young repatriate from China, comes to Kazakhstan at the invitation of the National University to take part in a prestigious scientific competition. Local students, who are biased against immigrants, prevent Madi from achieving his goal. Meanwhile, his father asks him to find a missing relative who turns out to be a former criminal. Madi is torn between ambitions and family commitments, trying to find her way in two opposite worlds.

In a village, a series of mysterious deaths occur, which the locals believe to be suicides. Officer Rahym notices strange coincidences and begins an investigation, joined by investigator Daniyar from the city. Together, they uncover the trail of a serial killer who leaves mysterious clues and complicates the investigation.
