Mirka, new to the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish world, makes her way from the back of a gender-segregated bus to the front, to save her celiac son Raphael from a cookie containing gluten. This simple act constitutes a challenge to the conventions of the society in which Mirka lives and to which she tries to belong.

Anna (12) and her mother (40) arrive in a gloomy ultra-Orthodox neighborhood on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Anna, who brought a pair of bicycles with her, soon discovers that it is forbidden for girls to ride there.
