Inspired by the tragic loss of Southeast Asians smuggled inside a shipping container in Europe, “A Dream for My Daughter” unfolds in Cambodia. It follows Pheak, a crab catcher, reeling from his daughter’s death abroad. Amidst his grief and the challenges of repatriating her body, an encounter with her spirit in a mangrove compels him to confront his sorrow and find closure.

Thida, a new movie ticket seller, on her first night shift, is oddly instructed by her manager to figure out which one among her mysterious customers is not human to give him or her a free ticket. Each encounter grows mentally disturbing, revealing that the real horror may just lie in humans themselves.

The film consists of two love stories, "First, Second, Third" and "Love is a Book". The former tells the story of two male lovers who start with a sexual relationship, develop feelings, and then openly share their emotions, leading to a deep connection. The latter revolves around two female lovers, reuniting after a long separation, experiencing a surge of past emotions and the inevitable clash with present realities. Love is a book, and while they are in different chapters of their emotional journeys, both stories share similar, ambiguous, and pure expressions of love.
